Delighted to hear that you love repairing furniture. I don’t have a website – or a workshop – but I attend Upholstery classes and love to rescue chairs and give them a new lease of life. Very often the old chairs repaired are better than modern ones newly bought as they don’t seem to last 5 minutes!! They are frequently made from everything but good timber and are just as frequently dumped and replaced with the same short-lifespan articles!! I don’t approve!!!!! I once restored a lovely set of old chairs with drop-in seats – 10 chairs and 2 carvers. The one thing I remembered to do at the start was to assign a number to the chair and the same number to the seat frame, so that they could be matched up easily. Just to prove my theory about matching seat and frame, I deliberately tried to put, eg chair 1 and drop-in seat 7 together. Needless to say, it didn’t fit!! Just for the record, I live in Northern Ireland. Where are you, please?
All the best. Alison

I enjoy working with hand tools. I had to buy a webbing stretcher and stapler. The stapler has many other uses. There are many adhesives. Best to learn how with a hands on expert. My driving improved when I taught my lad. Experts love to enable keen learners.
